Call of the Wild for Spring 2013 from Carlos Miele

The call of the wild was evident last September when I sat in the packed audience at the Carlos Miele runway show at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week at Lincoln Center in New York City. I have always been a big fan of this Brazilian born designer, and as the girls literally floated down the runway in silk charmeuse and chiffon; I was transported to the glamour of another time and place. He has a way with prints that’s certain. These ranged from leopard to giraffe and tiger, but the combinations of patterns were elegant and refined. Waistlines and necklines were defined by glittery beaded accents that blended seamlessly with the mostly eveningwear collection. Take note ladies that animal print when done in soft; sheer fabrics can be quite attractive. I especially loved the blues mixed with soft citron and greens. This is a trend worthy of our attention this spring and summer. If you look closely at these pictures I shot from my seat near the models entrance to the runway, you may spy Paula Abdul who was sitting in the front row texting and taking pictures with her phone!
